Reuben Goldstein Edwards of London marketed a whole line of hair preparations, many of which were imported and sold in America by E. Fougera & Co. Edward's business was located at 95 and 96 High Holburn, in London. In 1903, Edwards registered the word "Harlene" as a Trade Mark (TM #40,308). He claimed to have been selling the brand name since 1883. He registered the word "Astol" as a Trade Mark in 1911 (TM #93,630), and said he had been selling it since 1911. The Trade Mark for "Astol" was re-registered in 1933 by Edward's Harlene, Ltd.
