Joseph Cristadoro
Joseph A. Cristadoro was a New York City Hair Merchant from 1833 to 1888. His business locations included 218 Broadway (1833-1844), 6 Astor House (1845-1874), 57 John Street (1873-1877), and a few others. His occupational listings included "Barber," "Wigmaker," "Hairdresser," "Dyes," "Patent Medicines," and "Chemist." In 1875, he was in business with Anselm Cadarette, and in 1883 he was working with Alexander Cristadoro. By 1889, Maria J. Cristadoro was listed as his widow.

Two trade marks were registered by Alexander Cristadoro in 1906. One was for a hair dye, and the oother was for a hair tonic. He claimed that the symbols had been used since 1850. In 1907, he registered a new Trade Mark for a Hair Tonic called "Ortalix." According to Fike, the Cristadoro hair products were advertised as early as 1853 and at least as late as 1916. He advertised a product called "Petrolica" in 1878.
