Upham's Japanese Hair Stain
This was one of the products of Samuel C. Upham, from Philadelphia. I've found the product in ads from 1864 until 1885. The following ad was transcribed from the 1885 Saturday Evening Post:
The Japanese Hair Stain colors the hair, whiskers, and mustache a beautiful black or brown. It consists of only one preparation. Color will not fade or wash out. Only 50 cents a box. Mailed to any address, for 75 cents, by S.C. Upham, 25 South Eighth Street, Philadelphia, PA.
