According to Devner, Clark Stanley was in business in Providence, Rhode Island from the 1880s until around 1899. He not only sold his famous "Snake Oil Liniment," but a whole line of preparations including this "Vegetable Hair Tonic." Devner said that the Hair Tonic was for sale in 1899.
