| In 1850, Joseph H. Putnam was listed as a Hairdresser at 175 1/2 Essex in Salem Mass. His wife Caroline was listed at the same address as Hair Work Manufacturer starting in 1851. From 1861 until at least 1882, Caroline R. was listed at various Essex addresses - also as a Hair Work Manufacturer. She was most likely the daughter of Joseph and Caroline E. I have been unable to make a definite link between these Putnam's and the Medicated Hair Tonic. |
