| Charles H. Pape, of St. Louis, registered this brand name as a trademark (as shown) in 1891. Pape said that he or his father had used the name since 1865. The picture is Dr Pape himself. I found Charles H. Pape listed for quite a few years, working for someone else. There was a Henry Pape, who was a Barber, who was in business in the same city starting in 1879. He was probably Charles' father. |
