Lombard & Cundall's Excelsior Hair Tonic
Roswell Lombard started out in Springfield, Mass. as a Clerk at the Apothecaries Hall in 1848. By 51, he was in business with Joseph W. Cundall on Main Street. Although the business continued to be listed until 1855, Lombard's wife was listed as "Widow" from 54 on, and Cundall was listed with a home address only in 1857. It is unlikely that they still ran the business after 1855 or 56. During 1858-9, H.A. Collins was listed as the successor of Lombard & Cundall & the sole Proprietor of the Excelsior Hair Tonic. I wonder if he was related to the C.F. Collins, who was selling Kallocrine in Middletown, CT.

L.S. Bliss, of Hatfield Mass. sold an Excelsior Hair Tonic for a while. He changed his product name to Unrivalled Hair Tonic. This was probably due to L&C getting wind of the imitation effort. The aqua bottles are very similar.

The variant 3 is one of the best hair bottles there is. I would imagine that today it would bring at least $3,000.
