| I saw this product listed in an 1865 through 1873 newspapers from Illinios. One is shown below. In the 1870 census William H. Knowles was listed in Nashua, NH in with an occupation of Manufacturing Chemist. In 1880 he listed his occupation as Manufacturer of Hair Renewer. He must have started his business sometime between 1860 and 1870, because the 1860 census had him listed as "Trader." Other Images: Another Knowles Ad from 1865
