Johnson's Speykhiene
Thomas Johnson, of Utica, New York, registered this label in 1884. He sold the product at Johnson's Hair Dressing Room, Exchange Buildings, Utica, N.Y. The following is a transcription of the text from the label:
JOHNSON'S SPEYKHIENE FOR THE HAIR.
This preparation will not make the hair grow on bald heads, but it will prevent the hair from falling off. It will keep the head clean and free from dandruff, strengthen the roots of the hair and give the scalp a healthy action; it makes the hair moist and glossy and changes coarse, dry, wiry hair to a soft, silky texture.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE. Give the head a good brushing then moisten the hair with the Speykhiene. Rub it well into the roots of the hair with the finger ends until nearly dry, then moisten the hair with cold water.
