Jatamansi Hair Dressing
An 1869 Ad stated that at that time it was the product of S. Spalding & Co., of the Evansville Chemical Works. By 1905, the product was being sold by the Washington Homoepathic Pharmacy, of Washington, D.C. I found the product advertised as late as 1920. The label read as follows:
JATAMANSI
Contains 6.5% ALCOHOL
(Reg. U.S. Patent Office)
THE PERSIAN HAIR DRESSING

It keeps the scalp in a healthy condition, free from dandruff; it renders the hair soft and glossy without being greasy or sticky; it is pleasant, cooling and cleansing, and contains nothing injurious, no matter how freely used.
DIRECTIONS. Apply as freely and as often as desired.
