This product was sold by George H. Hovey in 1853. That ad (below) uses the exact same wording as his partner Saul used for his "Medicated Fluid." "Hovey's Hair Balm" was listed for sale in the 1872 John F. Henry catalog. The following text was in the 1853 Salem Mass. Directory:
