Hans Hugo Glenck, of Middlesex, England, registered a Patent for his Hair Tonic in 1889 (Patent #398,890). He claimed it would make hair grow, prevent it from falling off, remove and prevent scurf & dandruff, preserve the hair in a healthy condition, keep the scalp in a perfectly healthy condition. The preparation was composed of one pint of approximately 45% grape alcohol, mixed with 2 ounces of the extract of rotten apples.
