Emma Rimmer, of Chicago, Ill., registered this brand name as a trademark for "Toilet Soaps and Lotions" in 1891 (#19,244). She claimed to have been selling the preparation since earlier the same year. She also indicated that the brand name was sometimes blown into the bottles. By 1901, the product was listed as "Hoffman's Dandruffine." It's possible that Emma Rimmer later became Emma Hoffman.
