Ballard's Hair Dye
Orange M. Ballard was a Hair Dye Proprietor in New York at least as early as 1849 and at least as late as 1867. He started out calling himself a "Chemist," and at other times he used the titles "Perfumer" and "Druggist." His principal address was on Broadway, with the street number varying over the years. By 1866, he had three Drug Stores, including one at 49 Franklin Street, but business apparently dropped off and the next year the Franklin Street address was his only location. Although he was a Druggist for several years, I don't know if he had any other patent medicines of his own.
