This product was advertised in 1839 through 1841 in the Bangor (Maine) Daily Whig. Adams sold the product out of his room over the Post Office. I found similar ads as early as 1837 and as late as 1841. The 1841 ad included a testimonial dated 1831. By 1848, Adams was still running ads, but for a shaving cream.
